Pantograph Primary Seal

Pantograph Primary Seal

A Pantograph Primary Seal is a mechanically actuated primary rim seal system designed for External Floating Roof Tanks (EFRTs). The seal utilizes a series of articulated pantograph linkage assemblies that apply a uniform radial force to press a reinforced elastomeric sealing element continuously against the tank shell. Unlike conventional spring-loaded seals, the pantograph mechanism maintains nearly constant sealing pressure throughout the full operating range of the floating roof, even under shell out-of-roundness, thermal expansion, wind loading, and roof movement. The system provides superior vapour-tight sealing, minimizes hydrocarbon emissions, reduces product evaporation losses, and enhances operational safety and service life. Pantograph Primary Seals are widely used where high sealing efficiency, low maintenance, and long-term reliability are required.

Typical Application

• External Floating Roof Tanks (EFRT).
• Crude Oil Storage Tanks.
• Gasoline Storage Tanks.
• Diesel Storage Tanks.
• Naphtha Storage Tanks.
• Kerosene Storage Tanks.
• Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) Storage Tanks.
• Aromatic Hydrocarbon and Petrochemical Storage Tanks.
• Petroleum Refineries.
• Petrochemical and Chemical Plants.
• Tank Farms and Bulk Liquid Storage Terminals.
• LNG/LPG terminals (where approved by project specifications for associated liquid hydrocarbon storage).
• New tank construction, floating roof upgrades, and seal retrofit projects.
